Thanx for putting a great guide on Rubik's cube solution. I have solved it many times anf memorized all the moves. Credit goes to the Yates and Dedmore.

How ever some times I get in Step VI all the cubies in place and the Middle edge pieces also are at their respective correct positions only the colours reversed. From this position how many times ever if I try applying the algorithm I keep getting those pieces misplaced. They keep rotating They will never form an H or Fish.

I have attached a pic also. That is shown with last layer on top and adjacent faces brought up. The bottom layer fully solved is not shown. Let us say I start with orange as the front side and put algorithm 6, the nest position i get is orange in the same place, positions 1 is moved into 3, 3 into 2 and 2 into 1. One more repetition of algorithm 6 I get them moving anticlockwise and after three iterations back in the same place where I started.

Can you suggest something for this problem ?

Hi wastedel, welcome to the forums :)

It looks like you just need to jump ahead to Step 7 when this happens, here's the excerpt from the last paragraph there:

Once you are ready, perform the applicable last layer algorithm below to completely solve the cube. The first is known as the "H" Pattern, and the second is known as the "Fish Pattern". If for some reason you had all four edges flipped (instead of the usual two edges) when you finished step six, simply perform the "H" Pattern once from any front. You will then be able to find either of the two original patterns at that point. Congratulations! You've solved the Rubiks Cube!

sry if I misread your problem though, new baby = lack of sleep, Ill be back to reread it later to double check my advice :coffee:

and since you enjoyed the Rubik's cube solution, be sure to watch for our upcoming speed-cubing guide which should be out soon. it will feature some pretty cool algorithms that solve multiple cubies at the same time and will show how to solve an entire scrambled cube in < 1min!

Hey Champion !

Very sorry I was so excited by having achieved step 5, I did not read that part of step VI carefully. That was dumb. But I learnt though :juggle:

Thanx for your patience. You had read that correctly. Nice time with the baby and have fun.

You bet I am looking forward to your speed-cubing guide. Have a swell time.

Cheers.
