Yep, literally outside in a tornado. I was coming home from a trip and talking to my wife (dishesandlaundry) on the car phone when she mentioned something about a tornado warning in a county....wait a second, that's the county I'm in! I could see some storm clouds rolling in pretty quickly, but I thought I was on the other side of it. she said don't worry unless it starts to hail....no sooner did it start to pelt the car with big chunks of ice. everyone was pulling off to the side of the road because the wind starting blowing really hard and there was so much rain and hail. i saw a police officer a bit up the road so I sped up to where he was parked and he yelled "It's gonna be right on top of us in about two minutes!!" While everyone else took there chances by the side of the road (which for some reason didn't have any trees or anything around to hold on to) I spotted a house barely visible through all the debris flying around and so I sped down to it. It turned out to be a mobile home, which is pretty much a tornado magnet. luckily for me, the tornado just skimmed us (but was still enough to make my car slide sideways) and moved along through the mostly uninhabited countryside. what a crazy looking thing though, just wham bam and gone. a big violent haze of rain, wind and debris. I'll have to remember to watch the weather next time, whew :)
