Playing texas holdem. There are 4 clubs in the community cards, the highest being a jack. 2 players hold flush hands, neither have a card higher than the jack. So Jack flush is the winning hand. Does the next highest club [ eg 9 of clubs ] held by a player, take the pot, or is it a split pot ?
I went ALL IN, and lost !! All the other players said it was the highest 2nd card. I debated it was a split pot.
Please put me out of my misery. Thanks

With three or four flush board cards, the highest flush card in the players hands is the determining factor in Texas Hold'em when both players have made a flush. If your opponent did indeed have a higher flush card than you in their hand, the pot belongs to them. However, in the case of 5 flush board cards if neither player can beat the lowest board card then the pot is indeed split. Here are a few examples:
#1: Jc-8c-2c-Ah-Kh : 5c6c loses to 7c3c since the 7c is the highest flush card which can also beat the lowest board club, the deuce of clubs.
#2: Ac-Kc-Tc-9c-8c : 5c6c and the 7c3c split the pot since neither players high card can beat the board flush (the 6 and 7 are both lower than the 8c). Therefore, both players must play the board and the pot is split.
