View Full Version : Anyone want to visit Vegas in 2009 for a chess, poker, go, etc... monster event?

I figure I would post this here to see the interest. Imagine there was a multiple week monster event that had chess, checkers, go, poker, backgammon, and a lot of other games, with chance to win good money, and mingle with champions at different games? Let's say it took place in 2009 right before the World Series of Poker or right after.

Would anyone here be interested in attending that and participating? You may even be able to walk away world champ and some smaller and more obscure game like Take All Chess, or some more obscure modern abstract strategy game. Of course, some of these smaller and more obscure events may not have much prize money associated with them. How about World Champ at Connect 4 or Chinese Checkers with a top prize of $100 or so? You have the idea.

Think of it like the World Series of Poker, but you not only have poker, but a wide range of other games.

where's the sign up sheet? :) I'm taking down the Connect 4 Championship and the Carcassonne World Cup, just to name a few :cigar:

Well, not sure Carcassonne will be there. Likely most abstract strategy and games like backgammon and poker, if they have enough of a draw to them. I am looking to stick mostly with games that have associations behind them to run the events, and also abstract strategy games. However, it could grow appropriately as needed.

Idea is to get enough prize money in one location, and then pitch it for the media to show up, and get the event on television. Looking at possibly having non-alcoholic beer as a sponsor also. It is mostly bluesky now.
