Default Please comment on this 5-Card Stud-Hold'em poker hybrid. Does it exist?

I was looking through some company material and read about a non-gambling poker variant some company was selling. Trying to figure it out, I thought of maybe what the rules were, and came up with an idea for poker that I don't think was the same as theirs. It was more like their idea, but more like Hold'em.

In the game (I will suggest a Head's Up version of it as this is the start), deal each player 5 cards, and then one card face up to start the community cards. Players then discard one card each (set it face down to be discarded at the end of the hand). Players now have a 4 card hand each. Each player then do typical Hold'em betting. Then, players alternative playing one card face up to form the community poll of cards, and then bet accordingly. Players will play 2 cards from their hand, making for four additional round of betting.

At the end of the hand, then players use all 5 community cards to form their hand, plus two cards they have left in their hand. So, the community cards have 2 cards from each player, plus the starter card flipped over.

Anyone know if there is a variant like this, and have any comments on how this can be tweaked?
